Klaviyo is excited to announce our strategic partnership with Shopify that will bring enhanced features and functionality to mutual customers.

As part of this partnership, Shopify has made an investment in Klaviyo, which will allow us to work more closely than ever to empower brands of all sizes to own their data and customer relationships at every step of the customer journey.

Klaviyo now is the recommended email marketing solution for Shopify Plus customers globally.

Why this partnership, why right now?

Shopify shares our vision and mission of empowering entrepreneurs and operators to own their destiny and build lasting businesses.

Shopify has built one of the most trusted ecommerce platforms in the industry to start, grow, market, and manage a retail business of any size with reliability, creativity, and speed-to-market for retailers. This has been crucial over the last decade as ecommerce demand surged and third-party platforms on which retailers relied to grow their customer base changed their algorithms, their rules, and their policies without notice.

Klaviyo has built one of the most trusted marketing platforms in the industry. New and scaling businesses alike can connect with their customers across various channels to deliver messages that create lasting connections and, of course, help generate sales.

The next era of ecommerce will be marked by a continued shift toward consumer privacy and the forming of strong digital relationships.

The next era of ecommerce will be marked by a continued shift toward consumer privacy and the forming of strong digital relationships. Consumers now have an increased expectation of merchants to deliver smooth, customer-friendly experiences, and there is a continued proliferation of channels in which brands must deliver these experiences.

This partnership builds on the combined vision of two powerful platforms to help founders and operators not just weather the new era––whatever it brings––but thrive within it.

What does this mean for Klaviyo partners and customers not using Shopify?

Klaviyo customers and the agencies and system integrators using non-Shopify platforms including Magento, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Prestashop and custom carts will continue to benefit from and be supported by new and updated Klaviyo features and functionality released nearly daily. In fact, you’ll hear more about new platform partnerships coming soon.

To make it easier to stay informed on product enhancements, we’ll soon launch a dedicated What’s New channel all customers can subscribe to and keep up to speed on what we’re doing, how it helps them, and how to get the most of everything Klaviyo has to offer.

What does this mean for Shopify and Klaviyo customers?

Today is just the beginning. In the future, expect to see far more from our teams as we work together throughout our departments––marketing, development, and more––to bring retailers more data, more insights, more ownership, and more power to run their businesses.

A lot is changing in the ecommerce industry, and we can’t wait to see how brands leverage Klaviyo and Shopify to build retail experiences for a new era.

Andrew Bialecki is the co-founder and CEO of Klaviyo, a leading unified customer data and marketing automation platform paving the way for entrepreneurs and creators to utilize data and email to form personal, 1:1 connections with their customers at internet scale. Since launching in 2012, Andrew has led the company to serve more than 275,000 brands who rely on the platform to deliver the same personalized customer experience online that is enjoyed in-store. The concept behind Klaviyo came from one of Andrew’s many different side hustles he’s created throughout his career -- a website dedicated to cataloging the dates and locations of local running races. After realizing the site wouldn’t scale, Andrew built a database to collect all of the e-commerce data he noticed was falling through the cracks, which ultimately led to the founding of Klaviyo. Today, Klaviyo is a rapidly growing $10B VC-backed marketing automation platform used by some of the world’s biggest brand names.
