For UK and EMEA merchants running on Shopify, Klaviyo is the email and SMS marketing platform of choice, turning your store's data into the campaigns and flows that drive revenue. But that Klaviyo and Shopify base is a foundation to build on, not the whole stack.

The right apps alongside that base feed your marketing programme the data it needs, on pricing, order tracking, and customer identity, not just email and SMS. Shopify merchants aren't so different from any other ecommerce retailer, says Jake Cohen, VP at Klaviyo. But often, that's where the similarities end.

"Different merchants, based on how long they've been in business and how much they've grown, have different challenges," Cohen points out:

  • Beginners: When you're first starting, how do you raise brand awareness?
  • Small businesses: When you have your first hundred customers, how do you keep business consistent and predictable?
  • Mid-market businesses: When you have a million customers, how do you keep your cost of service down and get more people buying for the first time, then buying again?
  • Enterprise: When you have 10 million customers, how do you expand into new countries?

"What's special about Shopify is they have an appreciation for the nuances and evolution of those problems, and they've built a platform that allows someone to start small and then scale internationally," Cohen explains. That's arguably even truer for a UK brand eyeing the rest of Europe than it was when he first said it.

Building a strong Shopify tech stack looks different for every merchant. Here's how to get the most from your Klaviyo and Shopify integration, plus 3 more app categories Cohen believes "unilaterally increase your likelihood of being successful," refreshed for what's actually current in 2026:

1. Getting the most from Klaviyo's Shopify integration

Effective email marketing platforms combine email and SMS in one place and use email automation: logic that manages, schedules, and runs marketing campaigns automatically based on what a customer does.

For that logic to work, data needs to move from your Shopify store to your marketing platform instantly. "The challenge," Cohen explains, "is that you need that data to move quickly, so you need an integration and a platform that can keep up."

Klaviyo, an official Shopify strategic partner, has built a Shopify integration that Cohen says stands out in 3 ways:

  1. Speed: Klaviyo's Shopify integration uses a webhooks-based sync that Cohen believes is "faster and richer than anyone else."
  2. Data volume: "Klaviyo has built a flexible system that allows us to store a ton of data," Cohen explains. "Because we can store all of that stuff, we can ask for more stuff. And because we can ask for more stuff, we can unlock more use cases: more nuanced segmentation, more specific analytics, more custom reports to give your store exactly what it wants, instead of just the standard stuff."
  3. Stability: Klaviyo employs "dozens of engineers," Cohen says, "who focus expressly on making sure everything works smoothly all the time."

For UK and EMEA merchants specifically, that integration got a lot more useful in March 2026, when Klaviyo and Shopify announced Locale Aware Catalogs. It syncs translated product content, regional pricing, currency, and market-specific URLs straight from Shopify Markets into Klaviyo, so a brand selling into the UK, Ireland, France, and Germany from one Shopify store doesn't need separate catalogues or manual workarounds to send the right price, in the right currency and language, to the right customer. That localised data also feeds Klaviyo's AI tools, like Smart Translations and Personalised Send Time, so a German subscriber and a UK subscriber can get emails that reflect their own market from the same campaign.

If you're building a wider international strategy beyond this one integration, our guides on international ecommerce for UK brands and multilingual marketing go deeper on the sequencing.

There's no uncertainty. There's no discrepancy. There's consistency, so you can wonder less and do more.

Equipped with this, UK and EMEA Shopify merchants can:

  • Use the drag-and-drop editor to build email campaigns, SMS messages, and on-site sign-up forms, including email pop-ups.
  • Trigger real-time automated emails, including abandoned cart emails, welcome emails, transactional emails, win-back emails, price drop notifications, and post-purchase follow-ups.
  • Segment their list and personalise sends based on opt-in preference (email vs. SMS), purchase history, browse history, location, and predicted lifetime value. That last one matters more when "location" spans several currencies and languages, not just a few US time zones.
  • A/B test subject lines, calls to action, content, and images.
  • Track open rates, click rates, and conversion rates against UK and EU benchmarks, not just US ones.

British fashion label Club L London is a good example of what this looks like in practice: Klaviyo now drives 33% of the brand's direct-to-consumer (DTC) revenue, built on the kind of personalised, Shopify-fed email flows covered above. Pink Gellac saw something similar after pairing Klaviyo with its own Shopify integration: a 263x return on Klaviyo spend.

2. Price testing apps for Shopify

With a price testing app like Intelligems, which Cohen calls "brilliant," Shopify merchants can A/B test product prices, shipping rates, and bundle or volume discounts to increase average order value and margin, then use the app's analytics to see the impact on conversion, revenue, and margin.

"Intelligems helps you improve your profit margin," Cohen says. "Margin is one of the least understood, least focused on, and most important things for any business, but especially a DTC business where you have to spend so much money on acquisition."

For UK and EU merchants, price testing carries an extra layer that US brands don't have to think about: prices displayed to shoppers already have to include Value Added Tax (VAT), and how you frame a price change, or a "was/now" discount, sits inside UK advertising rules on top of the usual margin question. Whether you're deciding to absorb a shipping cost increase or introduce a VAT-inclusive delivery threshold, that's exactly the kind of test Intelligems runs without you needing to touch your theme code. If you're weighing up cross-border shipping and pricing more broadly, our guide to cross-border ecommerce for UK brands walks through the wider trade-offs.

Intelligems "gives you the ability to set up that experiment, and they'll automatically run it for you on your website," Cohen says. A few extra points of margin compound quickly once you're running meaningful volume, whatever currency you're counting it in.

3. Order tracking apps for Shopify

Cohen is also a fan of order tracking apps that surface stalled shipments and reveal patterns in fulfilment and carrier performance. The original version of this advice pointed to Wonderment, which Loop has since acquired and now sells as Track by Loop, bundling order tracking with Loop's returns platform. Loop counts real UK and EU brands among its customers, including Represent, Oh Polly, and Alohas. But for a Shopify store built around European and UK carriers specifically, two other apps are worth putting ahead of it:

Outvio and AfterShip.

Outvio was built for European ecommerce from the ground up. It connects natively with UK carriers, including Royal Mail, DPD, Evri, and Parcelforce, and with national carriers across the EU, including Chronopost, PostNL, InPost, and Correos, without the long, custom integration work that cross-border tracking usually needs. It also bundles that tracking with fulfilment and a self-service, multilingual returns portal, so a UK or EU merchant can run shipping, tracking, and returns from one place.

AfterShip trades that regional depth for scale: over 1,000 carriers worldwide, tracking pages in more than 30 languages from its Pro plan up, and pricing tiers built to fit a merchant shipping a few hundred parcels a month or a few hundred thousand. For a UK or EU brand that's also shipping into the US, the Middle East, or Asia-Pacific, that global carrier network matters more than Outvio's European depth.

Whichever you choose, the reason to bother at all is the same. For most ecommerce businesses, a large share of support tickets are "where's my order?" tickets. "The merchant usually doesn't know, or they do know, but the answer is that UPS has it. And that's not a satisfactory answer for the customer," Cohen says. "So even though it's the carrier's problem, it becomes the brand's problem."

With a tool like this, Cohen says, "you can proactively say, 'Hey, guess what—we just found out you're delayed 2 days. We're really sorry, but it should be there soon, and we'll let you know if we hear anything different.' And most consumers are like, 'No problem. I don't need it that bad—I just want to know when it's going to get here.'"

4. Customer data apps for Shopify

In a world where third-party advertising is less effective and more expensive, it's getting harder for ecommerce merchants to measure marketing performance and attribution. Customer data apps like EdgeTag from Blotout help Shopify merchants drive more sales in a post-cookie world by restoring customer identity through first-party signals, without client-side cookies.

The regulatory picture has moved in two directions at once through 2025 and into 2026. The UK's Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 relaxed the rules around some low-risk cookies, like basic analytics, meaning not every cookie on a UK site needs an explicit consent click any more. Meanwhile, cookie consent requirements across the EU continue to tighten. A brand selling into both markets from a single Shopify store now has to manage two separate consent regimes rather than one.

That's exactly why first-party data matters more here, not less. Blotout's EdgeTag broadcasts events from your site to downstream tools like Klaviyo without relying on client-side cookies, which sidesteps a chunk of the consent-banner problem entirely rather than trying to win more clicks on it. Used well, it means:

  • Lifetime customer IDs that stay accurate regardless of cookie or consent status
  • A no-code set-up that takes minutes, not a developer sprint
  • Pre-built integrations that send marketing signals to Klaviyo, Meta, and other channels
  • The ability to expand audiences and segments across platforms
  • A first-party data relationship built to hold up under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), enforced separately today as UK GDPR and EU GDPR, which, since Brexit, aren't quite identical any more

"You can use that information for things like targeting, retargeting, personalisation, and flow triggering, instead of building tons of custom integrations or adding tons of custom code to your website," Cohen explains.
