AI Builder Resident
At Klaviyo, we value the unique backgrounds, experiences and perspectives each Klaviyo (we call ourselves Klaviyos) brings to our workplace each and every day. We believe everyone deserves a fair shot at success and appreciate the experiences each person brings beyond the traditional job requirements. If you’re a close but not exact match with the description, we hope you’ll still consider applying. Want to learn more about life at Klaviyo? About the Role
At Klaviyo, the ARIA (Applications, Resources, Intelligence, and Automations) team is building AI systems that transform how our employees work. As an AI Builder Resident, you’ll join a cohort of builders focused on developing AI-powered internal tools that automate workflows, improve knowledge access, and unlock productivity across the company.
This is a 1-year, hands-on builder program (starting June 22, 2026) designed for candidates who have demonstrated the ability to build real things with AI. You’ll embed directly with business teams, working on high-impact problems and shipping production-ready agentic AI solutions. This role focuses on building and deploying agentic and LLM-powered applications in production, with an emphasis on learning, execution, and growing your ability to work across the AI system stack.
This role sits at the intersection of engineering, product thinking, and real-world problem solving. It emphasizes execution, curiosity, and ownership, with the expectation that you’ll actively build, iterate, and deploy—not just observe. This role is designed to accelerate your growth by giving you direct ownership of real problems and production systems from day one.
Apply Today! Applications are open until 9 am ET on Monday, April 27. You are required to submit a video demonstration and README documentation (linked template) as part of your application. Video reviews will take place the week of April 27 and invitations for Klaviyo's Builder Day will be extended in early May.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Embed with business teams to identify opportunities: Partner with internal teams to uncover workflow inefficiencies and translate ambiguous business problems into AI-powered solutions. Own problems end-to-end from discovery through deployment, not just execution.
- Build AI-powered workflow automations: Design and implement solutions that automate repetitive or complex tasks using LLMs and agentic workflows.
- Develop agent-based systems and integrations: Build AI agents that can take actions, chain tasks, and integrate with internal systems (e.g., HR, CRM, ticketing tools). Surface insights and patterns from deployments to inform broader AI platform and tooling improvements
- Ship internal AI tools into production: Use AI-assisted coding tools to rapidly prototype, gather feedback, iterate, and deploy scalable, production-ready systems used by teams across Klaviyo. Ensure solutions are adopted and deliver real impact.
- Advance team AI maturity: Help teams move from basic AI usage to more advanced capabilities (e.g., structured workflows, agent orchestration, deeper integrations)
- Collaborate to scale solutions: Work directly with stakeholders day-to-day and alongside teams such as Amplify and GTS to deploy and operationalize AI solutions at scale.
- Contribute to a culture of building: Act as a visible example of Klaviyo’s “built different” mindset—taking initiative, experimenting rapidly and delivering tangible results.
What We’re Looking For
We are open to a variety of backgrounds. The most important signal is your ability to build and ship with AI.
Core Qualifications
- Able to work on-site in Boston for the full 1-year program (40 hrs/week) starting on June 22
- Demonstrated experience building something real with AI (e.g., side project, automation, product, tool, or workflow)
- Comfort using AI-assisted coding tools to develop and iterate quickly
- Working knowledge of Python and/or modern scripting/backend tools
- Familiarity with best in class LLMs, APIs, and basic system integration concepts
- Ability to learn quickly and operate in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment, taking initiative to define and solve problems without waiting for direction
Candidate Profile
- Curious, resourceful, and action-oriented with a strong bias toward building
- Comfortable figuring things out independently and pushing projects forward
- Strong alignment with Klaviyo’s builder culture: curious generalists motivated by impact and continuous learning
- Does not require visa sponsorship now or in the future
Nice to Have
- Experience building agentic AI workflows
- Exposure to RAG systems, embeddings, or vector databases
- Experience integrating APIs or working with internal tools/systems
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Background can vary across software engineering, IT, or career-switch paths (Computer Science degree not required)
- Exposure to frontend or full-stack development
Why This Role Matters
This program is designed to unlock a new type of AI builder at Klaviyo—people who can quickly identify problems, build solutions, and drive impact with AI. You’ll help shape how internal teams adopt and scale AI, while gaining hands-on experience with agentic systems, LLM applications, and real-world deployment.
