Tipsy Elves started in 2011 selling ugly Christmas sweaters online. Five years and a Shark Tank appearance later, they’ve since branched out into selling various holiday-themed garb and accessories. They have a highly successful ecommerce store and are well known in the industry for their cheeky products (and even cheekier emails). Tipsy Elves has done a fantastic job striking the perfect, humorous tone for its marketing copy.

For other ecommerce stores, they’re a great example of how branding can set you apart from the competition. Yes, Tipsy Elves’ products are conducive to hilarious marketing — but that doesn’t mean you can’t follow their lead in your own marketing strategy.

Don’t be afraid to have fun in your marketing!

Unless you’re selling something very serious, like medical equipment, you shouldn’t be afraid to have a good time when writing your marketing copy. Especially if you sell something more generic than ugly Christmas sweaters, like pants, your voice is what can truly help you stand out. Plus, humor is a great way to connect with your target audience — after all, who doesn’t like to laugh?
