Spam in 2017: Anything you send that your recipient doesn’t care about.
At Klaviyo, we’re taking a stand to redefine what marketers consider spam. If you take a look into the inbox of literally anyone with an inbox, you’ll see messages that are irrelevant or inappropriate that don’t quite meet the legal definition of spam. We can and should do so much better for our, customers, our subscribers, and maybe even ourselves.
We created Spam Court as a satirical look at some of the worst modern spamming offenses.
In our most recent installment of Spam Court we took a look at sending to subscribers without looking at all of the relevant customer data. The verdict is in–guilty!
Last up to Spam Court is marketing guilty of ignoring buyer behavior.
“I already bought my wedding dress, from your store, I don’t need any more discounts.”
Sound familiar? Not filtering out purchasers from an autoresponder series is a bad look. It can quickly turn a good relationship with a customer into one characterized by annoyance and frustration.
How to improve
Improve your email marketing by adding a filter to the email to exclude people who have who have already purchased. If you’re already using Klaviyo, check out our guide to flow triggers and flow filters.
