- More essential workers plan to do a mix of online and in-store shopping for summer than non-essential workers.

People 45 and over said they plan to buy more plants, gardening supplies, and BBQ-related products (including food and tools) than those under 45.
People of all ages say they’re buying sunscreen, summer clothes, and patio furniture. Nineteen percent of those 45 and over said they were buying BBQ-related food and tools compared to just 10 percent of those under 45. Sixteen percent of those 45 and over plan to buy garden and plant-related products compared to just six percent of those under 45.
More essential workers are doing a mix of online and in-person shopping compared to non-essential workers.
Fifty-six percent of essential workers plan to do their summer shopping both online and in-person compared to just 47 percent of non-essential workers. Thirty-one percent of non-essential workers plan to do all their shopping online compared to just 21 percent of essential workers.
Electronics are the fifth most common category that people have had trouble finding items they want in stock.
Seventeen percent of respondents said they have tried to buy some type of electronic device that was not available where they were looking. In particular, people most frequently mentioned Nintendo Switches, video games, and TVs as items they had trouble finding in-stock.
